Growth of Electric Vehicles Startups in India

In contemporary India, many startups have come up as the vanguard of ecology, social equity, etc. This is the bright side of a new world that is being led by young minds who are leading themselves to the pinnacle of success while caring deeply about the ‘people’s problems’. And this is the goodness in the modernization as it is happening, not just modernization, sustainable modernization should be the term. What is sustainable modernization? While sustainability surely is a path of development that can’t be ignored, there is no concrete structure defining this pathway. Proponents of a “Green Economy,” for instance, regard economic growth as a prerequisite for sustainable development and advocate a modernization of society, which implies moderate adjustments toward a sustainable economy within the current institutional framework. Critics of this ecological modernization approach see the imperative of economic growth as an obstacle for sustainable development and instead support a fundamental transformation of society. Yes, we are overcrowded with different sorts of problems, but at the same time, there is a constant effort to find out the best solution for each and every problem. Not only to find the best solution but to find the most optimum and long-lasting solution, while doing the least damage to the concerned stakeholders of all kinds.

Hence sustainability is the major issue today and we are on the verge to find out permanent solutions to the latest problems. A problem that has haunted us for more than 3 decades is non-renewable resources like petroleum and diesel. However today we have found out a solution to that also in the form of electric vehicles (e-mobility).

Although as per the current scenario there are lesser companies in the market producing electric vehicles as compared to any other petrol or diesel vehicle. There are many companies in the market trying to explore every beneficial aspect of this particular field. For the good, this segment of battery-operated vehicles is not being dominated by existing automobile giants.

Startups like Deltic have emerged in India in the e-vehicles segment with an electric vehicle dealership network across India. Deltic a unit of Delta Autocorp LLP is formed with a mission to communicate the message of e-mobility to every nook and corner of this vast country like India. Deltic focuses to spread the benefits of e-mobility to every small household in rural India. These startups with a fairly different scope have shown a completely new way to the thought process of e-mobility. They not only have opened doors to a new pathway but have also shown that this field is equally researchable and robust. These startups have their own social cause and their own responsibility which makes it all the more prominent.

If we look into Deltic, the unimaginable network of 300 dealers across India the company has established is a sheer reflection of a brighter future. In 2-3 years, it is inspiring to see the way this startup has penetrated the market while taking up sustainable modernization as an issue and dominate an over-competitive market. An example has been set for other entrepreneurs and modernists to not chase profits only, more golden future can be built otherwise.

The government of India has also planned to subsidize many startups focusing on e-mobility and industrial rates have also dropped down because the Government of India no longer imposes taxes on them. These events have created a sense of development in this field and we get enough logic to show that it’s a field with a larger scope. Deltic has been a benefactor and provider of similar opportunities in the market. All the e-rickshaw dealers and e-scooter dealers of Deltic have been directly benefitted with similar opportunities and programs.

Many similar electric vehicle startups are coming up but they have to learn this one simple thing that sustainable modernization solutions like the electric transportation system require vigor and dedication. Perseverance is the key and the approach should be very responsible. Quoting one of the senior managers in Deltic, “At the beginning, I was concerned about the future as some very big names were our competitors and electric vehicles segment was very new. But hard work got paid off and we have our e-rickshaw (Toto dealers as e-rickshaw are called locally) dealers and e-scooter dealers throughout India, our e-rickshaw sales has put us as a market dominator in the e-mobility segment. I will advise the young startups to believe in their work and not compromise on quality. More than profits focus on gaining the trust of your distributorship network, employees, customers, investors, etc. Success will follow you, all the best!”

It is being said that the growth of electric vehicle startups in India will be enormous and in this growing market, everyone will get benefitted. Of course, a more stable phase will come where selective brands will sustain the tide of time, the fittest will survive.

How electric vehicles industry is coming out of Covid-19 or Coronavirus crisis?

Electric vehicles companies will be coming out of the COVID-19 or Coronavirus pandemic the fastest because of the simple demand and supply logic. Transportation has become one of the necessities like food, shelter, and clothing for humans, without transportation life is unimaginable, with the incoming slowdown in public transportation the necessity for commercial or personal vehicles would be at a high and electric or battery-operated vehicles will see good days soon after the lockdown. Electric scooters have already found a warm place in the heart of Indian families because of its advanced features and economic nature. Even the e-rickshaw (toto) product line will be moving out as the lockdown gets lifted because of the significant support electric vehicles segment is receiving from the government with subsidiaries and loans. E-rickshaw is promoting the entrepreneurial culture in the interiors of India by letting the unemployed youth support themselves and their families. And

Why become a Deltic e-vehicles dealer and not invest in big electric vehicles brands?

Why associate with Deltic at an early stage when you have an option to invest in more known brands as a seasoned businessperson is a question many of our current dealers had shared with us! Well, it is a question which will trouble the established investors who have the surplus to own a brand name as an e-vehicle (electric vehicle) dealer which has already established its firm name in the automobile industry (petrol/diesel) and now has entered the e-vehicles segment while assuming some kind of pre-existing monopoly. Let us try to analyze - i) The Investment: ● The more experienced a businessman you are the more you will be concerned about the useless expenses when trying to set up a new business ● The biggest problem in a decision to go for an established name is the extravagant expense that comes to you in the name of the brand fees ● And what are you paying for really? In an established market segment, it makes sense to indulge in such investments
